Caithness businesses receive a boost from their Chamber

Caithness Chamber of Commerce this week hosted its inaugural Boost Your Business event at its premises at Naver House in Thurso.
Boost Your Business took place on Wednesday 24th September, launched by Chamber Chief Executive Trudy Morris. Representatives from businesses across Caithness were invited to attend drop-in sessions, hosted by local entrepreneurs and Chamber staff. Jennifer Irvine of Business Gateway and Director of chartered accountancy firm Johnston Carmichael, Scott Jeffrey, were both on hand to advise delegates throughout the day.

Sessions included talks on workplace health, customer service standards – where delegates were asked to practice their people skills on each other, IT support, how to recognise and reduce stress in the workplace, enhancing your business through film and photography, and ways to embrace social media and get the most from your Chamber membership from Caithness Chamber staff. After a full day of interactive and engaging sessions, Boost Your Business was rounded off perfectly with a fascinating demonstration of photographic drone equipment from Sinclair Aerial Surveys.

The event was a great success, with all delegates having taken something positive from the day. Whether that was greater confidence when making business connections, or getting a better perspective on their marketing and media solutions, business representatives went away with a taste of what could be achievable, with the right guidance and connections, as well as the understanding that it’s not just chamber staff who can support them, but fellow members too.
Attendees on the day were keen to see more of the same, requesting in feedback that more workshops and learning opportunities become available in areas such as marketing strategies, social media development and financial management. Members would also like to have more networking opportunities, so Caithness Chamber will be looking at hosting a range of events in the near future.

Caithness Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the speakers who held sessions for Boost Your Business and look forward to welcoming them back for future events.
