Caithness firm LED Scotland expands premises, products and services following continued growth.
Published 21 Nov 2014Caithness firm LED Scotland has expanded its premises, products and services after four years of sustainable growth.
Based in Thurso, LED offers electrical wholesale and retail, industrial supplies, tool and plant hire to both industrial and domestic clients. Last year, the company moved from their original premises on Princes Street to a 10,000 square foot warehouse at Ormlie Industrial Estate. Going from strength to strength, continued growth has necessitated LED to clearly categorise their products and services to make optimise the customer experience.
As a result, LED have created three new trading titles, with LED Scotland becoming the holding company:
- LED Industrial Supplies
- LED Electrical Supplies
- LED Homestyles
With Support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), LED are currently developing a new, interactive business to business website, which is being prepared for launch at the end of this year.
Frank Bremner, Managing Director of LED Scotland, said that despite having great success in mind when he created the company in 2010, he had not anticipated the rapid growth and support LED has attracted. Thriving on repeat business from all sectors, including oil and gas and renewables, as well as local businesses and the public, Frank says, “We have several high-profile customers, including Subsea 7, ASCO, Nuclear Decommissioning Services and Dounreay Site Restoration. We take pride in being able to meet the needs of substantial companies, just as much as helping a householder find the right lightbulb.
“Our ability to serve local people and businesses from under the same roof is very satisfying. We are also mindful of what our customers really want, so have created different entrances for trade and the public, which means fast and efficient services for everyone.”
Although the firm was established in a time when the economy is said to have been struggling, LED Scotland has claimed its corner of the marketplace. The company has recently been accredited with ISO 9001 and is registered on Achiles UVDB. LED are now considering plans to develop further afield with an additional location in the far north.
“We’re delighted with the business success over the past four years,” Frank added, “It’s incredibly reassuring to have the backing of HIE. It has recognised the contribution that we make to the supply chain and in the process enabled us to build a strong foundation.”
