Gow’s Lybster Ltd celebrate their 30th year
Published 20 Sep 2017Celebrating its 30th Year Gow’s Lybster Limited are marking the occasion with a significant development at their facility at Mavsey, Lybster.
A purpose built 4320m³ workshop will almost double the capacity of their facility for the family run engineering, fabrication and welding company.
An office extension and refurbishment is also expected to be completed by the end of the year to allow for the company to grow further as it works on all its current contracts and develops opportunities for the future.
The company was originally founded by Donald Gow Snr and Sandra Gow in 1987 and is now owned and run by their daughter Sandra and husband Wullie who are chartering this expansion in nuclear, renewables, civil and oil & gas industries.
Currently employing 35 people Gow’s ethos is heavily placed in training the young workforce. Over the years they have placed great emphasis on training with many apprentices remaining with the company and moving into key positions within the business.
The Gow’s team are currently busy with contracts for DSRL, AMEC Foster Wheeler and the RNLI but the personal and family values are never far away for a business rooted in the Lybster community and undertake many local community roles to assist the schools, community centres and local groups. They are also an active sponsor of community activities like Wick Academy, Mey 10k and Thurso Town Improvements and continue to support the Caithness community where it can.
Going forward Gow’s hope to continue to develop its contracts in the renewables whilst continuing to target decommissioning work in nuclear and oil & gas in the UK and Europe. We have been working with the Nuclear Supply Chain Project, ERI and the Chamber of Commerce to develop our profile in new emerging sectors and reviewing our processes to enable us to continue to provide quality and value to our current and future clients.
