New acquisition for Denchi Power
Published 29 Apr 2016Denchi Power Ltd. is excited to announce that, as of 8th January 2016, it has acquired the Oldham mining/safety lamp business from Enersys Ltd.
With a world-famous product that has roots in mining history dating back to the early 1900s, Denchi Power continues to operate in the same business areas with Oldham lamps, supplying batteries, lamps and chargers to the underground mining & tunnelling markets. All operations progress seamlessly with the retained management experience of Andrew Jordan, who, working with the established team at Denchi, will liaise with customers and prospects to ensure a smooth transition to Denchi Power.
In their very earliest form, Oldham lamps first appeared in UK coal mines in 1907 and grew to become a UK standard that was exported around the world as British mining engineers supported the global growth of the mining industry.
As a technology driven specialist battery manufacturer, the lithium-ion batteries and LED technology in the Oldham lamps make a very easy fit with the Denchi product portfolio and manufacturing techniques, and the first trial manufacture of Oldham product at the Thurso factory has now been successfully completed. Production, bringing this famous brand back to the UK, will commence in full scale within the first weeks of June, with sales scheduled both for the domestic and overseas markets.
With quality and reliability at the core of Denchi’s business ethos, Oldham will continue to deliver the products needed today, whilst planning ahead for the next generation of technology leading mining and safety lamps.
