Better Places Green Recovery Fund (Round 2)

As part of its efforts to help rural communities prepare for greater visitor numbers this summer, the Scottish Government has made available £2.75 million of funding through the NatureScot Better Places Fund.

The funding is available to local authorities, community groups and non-governmental organisations and will support applications towards:

  1. Visitor management operational services: Funding for new and additional seasonal ranger and visitor management posts. The funding of staff posts is for the 2021 season only and will extend as a maximum to the end of October 2021.
  2. Visitor infrastructure: Funding for projects that can be delivered quickly and help address visitor pressures at busy hot spot locations, including temporary or permanent infrastructure. Applicants can apply for up to a maximum of £75K.

There are two application deadlines – 9 April 2021 for fast delivery projects (which must be ready to start by 3 May 2021) and 14 May 2021 for all other applications (which must be ready to start by 7 June 2021).
