Funding competition opens for wave energy firms
Published 22 Mar 2015A new international technology innovation competition has been launched by Wave Energy Scotland (WES).
Part of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, WES is calling for inventions of power take-off systems for wave energy devices from applicants who need investment to advance their technology hopefully towards commercialisation.
The new research and development body will put successful applicants forward to be eligible for contracts that cover up to 100 per cent grants for projects ranging from £100,000 to £4 million.
Energy Minister Fergus Ewing said: “This gives us the chance to support developers in Scotland to produce solutions for the cost effective generation of wave energy around the world.”
The competition is the first of five that will be run over the next year.
