Ledingham Chalmers celebrate success with lawyer graduation
Published 25 Aug 2015Ledingham Chalmers’ Employment Lawyer Sine Mackay has, after 3 years hard study, graduated from the Robert Gordon University with an MSc in Human Resource Management. This latest qualification means that Sine is now LLB (Hons), Dip LP, MSc, NP, Assoc CIPD. Here is a picture of Sine at her recent graduation resplendent in Mortar Board and gown: Sine Mackay Graduation.
The course covered a full range of human resources topics including employee relations, lifelong learning and development, reward, resourcing and talent management. Practical skills essential for all human resources practitioners were also developed including the appropriate handling of the recruitment process and design and delivery of effective learning interventions. The final year was spent researching and writing a dissertation. In Sine’s case this focused on the value of non-formal learning in the workplace. The degree is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and leads to membership of the Institute.
Sine is a senior solicitor with Ledingham Chalmers and is based at their Inverness Office. She has over 7 years experience of working with employers and will be known to fellow members not least from her attendance at Chamber events including presenting the “Everything you wanted to know about Employment Law but were afraid to ask” seminar at the Naver Business Centre on Thursday 30 July.
Sine and her colleagues in the Ledingham Chalmers’ Employment Team work daily with business owners, as well as managers and HR professionals, dealing with the many challenges for businesses which arise in the workplace. As well as being a huge achievement for Sine, the vocational HR qualification is an excellent illustration of her ability to combine legal knowledge with a practical understanding of the field in which she practices. The experience gained by Sine at Robert Gordon’s will add further to the services provided to the firm’s clients.
